PRAGUE GUIDE - SHOPPING

Since the early 1990s the amount and quality of products available has improved - many new shopping centres and malls have been opened nad the increased competition and consumer demand have brought a better selection, improved customer service and low prices.

 

Opening hours:

Stores and shops outside of Prague usually opet at 8 orp am and close at 6 or 7pm. Some stores are closed during lunch hours. The hours are shorter on Saturdays and small shops are closed on Sundays. Large supermarkets have longer opening hours and are open on Sundays.

Stores in the centre of Prague have longer opening hours - large supermarkets stay open until 8, 9 or 10 pm and some of them are open 24 hours a day. Most stores in the centre and in tourist locations are open on weekends.

Allmost all stores are closed on Christmas Eve (24th December, after 3 pm), 1st January and Easter Monday.

 

Shopping malls:

 

Palladium - a large shopping gallery is situated in the centre of Prague, at the Municipal House and Powder Gate. The five storey building holds 170 shops and 30 restaurants and cafés. At your disposal there are also 900 parking spaces.

Novy Smichov - a stylish, modern shopping mall and entertainment center. Three floors hold 150 shops, food court, Palace Cinema multiplex as well as Tesco supermarket.

How to get there: Metro B, tram 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14 or 20 to stop Andel.

Arkady Pankrac - this modern mall was opened in 2008 and offers a wide selection of clothes stores, shoe shops, drugstores, bookstores etc. A large Interspar supermarket and a food court cannot be missed. While you are shopping, your children can play in the children´s corner.

Metropole Zlicin - large fashion and entertainment complex on the outskirts of the city. Cinema City multiplex theatre, large electonics store Electro World, Tesco supermarket and shops of famous names can be found there. The mall is conveniently situated at the Zlicin metro station or can be reached by car.
